According to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) officials, the crash occurred at approximately 5:20 a.m. when a 2018 Nissan Kicks collided with a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 16-year-old.
Two juvenile passengers in the Nissan—a 2-year-old and a 5-year-old—sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as Charles R. Holmes Jr., 37, of Geneva, was injured and transported to Troy Regional Medical Center for treatment. Two additional children, ages 6 and 10, who were also passengers in the Nissan, were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
The crash remains under investigation by ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division.
