Multiple Kentucky, federal agencies continue extensive search for Ohio inmate: 'This is where he grew up'
In the Sept. 20 video, deputies said that they hadn’t stopped searching for Cooper since he was spotted near the woods near the Dover community.
Officials said the search area covers over 1,200 acres of dense woodland, with the US Marshals Service, FBI, Kentucky State Police (KSP), and various other agencies.
“This is where he grew up, ” Mason County deputies said. “He knows every inch of this property, and there are several areas he’s able to hide in.”
Officials said as many resources as possible are being utilized to find Cooper while also performing the other routine duties of the sheriff’s office.
“The woods are so dense, even at night, we cannot penetrate them with thermal imaging, or at least it’s very hard to do that,” deputies said.
Members of the MCSO thanked the community for rallying behind them with supplies, food, gear, and more during the ongoing search effort.
“If you see anything at all, please, please call us,” deputies emphasized, asking for prayers for Cooper’s apprehension.
KSP Trooper Haney posted on social media, echoing the MCSO’s message to let authorities know of any possible sighting of the escaped inmate.
“Help us help you by letting us know if you see him!” Haney wrote.
Officials warned the public not to approach Cooper, who was reported to be armed and dangerous.
