Franklin County court documents said that on Tuesday, Columbus police went to the 3900 block of Morse Road on the northeast side. A woman called to report her boyfriend, identified as 27-year-old Isaiah Tackett, for a domestic violence incident.
During an interview with a detective, she said she was strangled by Tackett at their residence at a different address. She also showed police a Ring camera video that captured the alleged incident.
The incident arose after Tackett was upset a kitten his girlfriend rescued continued meowing, prompting him to allegedly kick the kitten. During an argument between the two, Tackett is alleged to have strangled his girlfriend multiple times and pointed a gun at her, per charging documents.
Charging documents also state he cornered her inside their apartment for over one hour. After interviewing the victim and watching footage of the incident, Columbus police charged Tackett with kidnapping and arrested him.
During his arraignment hearing on Thursday, Tackett was given a $10,000 bond and is next scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 26.
