Gunfire cancels Lanett–LaFayette football game; witnesses report person shot
Gunfire cancels Lanett–LaFayette football game; witnesses report person shot
CHAMBERS COUNTY, Ala. (WRBL) – A high school football game between Lanett and LaFayette was canceled Friday night after gunfire erupted outside the stadium along Alabama Avenue East.

WRBL photographer Kevin Roble, who was on the scene, reports crime scene tape has been put up around the area. Witnesses at the scene say at least one person was shot.

Law enforcement officers are currently investigating. No information has been released yet about the victim’s condition, possible suspects, or what may have led to the gunfire.

Fans and players were sent home after the incident, and the remainder of the game will not be played tonight.

WRBL has reached out to local police for more details and will update this story as soon as additional information is confirmed.
