Greensboro school bus mirror hit by stray bullet; officers say investigation of shooting near intersection of East Cone Boulevard, North Elm Street underway

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Greensboro police responded to a reported shooting on Friday afternoon.

Shots were fired just before 3 p.m. near the intersection of East Cone Boulevard and North Elm Street, according to a statement released by the Greensboro Police Department.

No injuries have been reported.

Page High School and Cone Elementary School were put on lockdown in response to the shooting, according to a statement released by Guilford County Schools on Friday afternoon.

The mirror of a Doris Henderson Newcomers School bus was hit by a stray bullet, GCS says.

This afternoon, Page and Cone Elementary were placed on lockdown in response to a shooting nearby. No students were injured; however, the mirror of a bus serving Doris Henderson Newcomers was struck by a stray bullet. Law enforcement will be at and around both schools to assist with dismissal. We are grateful for our staff and law enforcement partners who worked quickly to ensure students were safe.

The investigation is ongoing.
