The accident occurred near Iotla Valley Elementary School in Franklin, North Carolina. Deputies reported all students and faculty at the school were safe.

The plane departed from Nashville around 12:41 p.m., and was reported to be registered to Brett Cornelius by flightaware. The 57-year-old is also known as Brett James, a Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame member, known for writing songs for Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw and other artists.
Authorities did not confirm if he was one of the passengers, however the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame made a Facebook post mourning the loss of James on Thursday.
No passengers survived the crash, according to the FAA report.
The Macon County Airport said they were unable to provide a comment regarding the accident.
