In a post on X around 2:20 a.m., the Herndon Police Department said the pedestrian was hit near Van Buren and Elden Street.
The victim was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers are searching for a black car with front-end damage that was last seen heading into Fairfax County on Elden Street.
For more than two hours, Van Buren Street between Elden and Monroe Street was blocked off as officers continued their investigation, but all roads have since reopened.
