From Paws to Pages: Meet the Girl with a 6 Pack

When Aubry says she has a “6 pack,” she’s not talking about abs— she’s talking about her six beloved dogs: August, Belle, Cookie, Blue, Paisley, and Nala.

Her mom, Cindy Alldredge, laughs that it all started with fostering. While some pups came and went into their fur-ever homes, others left paw prints too deep to let go.

“We’ve been foster failures,” Cindy said.

But she says you can’t really blame them, especially with how overwhelmed shelters are.

That’s part of what inspired Aubry to write a book— because when you’ve got six dogs and a big imagination, the stories practically write themselves.

“I train the dogs, I feed the dogs, and I walk the dogs,” Aubry said proudly.

Her children’s book, I Have a 6 Pack, shares the adventures of Aubry and her dogs. From teaching tricks to going on hikes, it’s more than a story about pets. It’s a reminder that Down syndrome isn’t a limitation, but a different lens on life— and Aubry makes the perfect guide to show us the view.

“I can show the world how beautiful people with Down syndrome are. We are more alike than different,” Aubry said.

And readers can’t get enough. Cindy says they were recently flying back home from New York when Aubry started telling fellow passengers about her book. “The next thing I know, half the plane is like—where do we get this book?” she said.

Beyond her writing, Aubry’s outlook on life is what truly shines. During a recent therapy session, a therapist asked if she collected anything. While her parents shook their heads no, Aubry thought about it for a moment and replied: “I collect friends.”

Cindy said that sums up her daughter perfectly. “If you’re going to collect one thing, that’s probably the best thing to collect, right? She’s proving the sky really is the limit.”
