Evacuation warning issued in San Bernardino County amid mud, debris flows

Authorities issued an evacuation warning in parts of San Bernardino County on Friday afternoon due to strong mudslides and other dangerous storm conditions.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department put the warning into effect just after 2 p.m. for the communities of Forest Falls, Angelus Oaks, Seven Oaks and the Oak Glen area from Pendleton Road east to Glen Road (north and south).

County officials determined there could be a possible threat to life and/or property due to the potential for mud and debris flows from the approaching storm.

“Those who require additional time to evacuate, and those with pets and livestock should leave now,” states the county’s website.

This warning comes a day after a powerful mudslide swept through the Oak Glen area as remnants of Tropical Storm Mario continued moving into Southern California, bringing rain and thunderstorms to the region.

As the violent storm continued to batter SoCal Thursday night, about 20 people got trapped between mudslides in Big Bear.

In addition, now a desperate search is underway for a 2-year-old boy who was separated from his father as floodwaters swept their car off a street in Barstow, Calif., during a flash flood Thursday night.
