MASON COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — Officials with the Mason County Sheriff’s Office asked for patience from the community on Friday, with law enforcement spending over 75 hours in the search for Jerry Cooper, who has been at large from an Ohio detention center since Tuesday.

On Friday, Sept. 19, Mason County deputies wrote on Facebook that Cooper was believed to be contained in the woods near Tuckahoe Road and Lee’s Creek Road.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

Throughout the search, members of the sheriff’s office told the public that many deputies and other officials have spent time away from their families to find Cooper, who is armed with a rifle and was described as a major threat to law enforcement.

“All available resources at the state and federal level have been asked for assistance,” the MCSO announced. “We will not cease until he is found.”

Further updates on the search to apprehend Cooper will be announced by Kentucky State Police Post 8 in Morehead.
