BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Amethyst House will host a Community Dance on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, at Harmony School, 909 E. Second Street, offering an evening of food, music, and fellowship in partnership with the Bloomington Old Time Music and Dance Group.
The event kicks off at 6 p.m. with a community cookout featuring hamburgers and hotdogs. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share. At 8 p.m., the dance begins with live old-time music performed by Donny Bradley, Jack Laskey, and Robert McCormac. Caller Katie Zukof will lead the evening’s dances, ensuring all skill levels can participate. Local poet Tony Brewer will also provide “poetry on-demand” as part of the festivities.
Admission is free, though a $10 donation is suggested to support Amethyst House, a Bloomington-based nonprofit offering recovery services for people dealing with substance use disorders.
Organizers say the dance is open to everyone and aims to celebrate community spirit through music, poetry, and movement.
