72.4 pounds of marijuana, 2 firearms seized by authorities, 2 in custody, MCSO Sheriff Countryman says
According to the Muscogee County Sheriff, on Sept. 17, the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that Desmond and Kiera Sams were driving.
The traffic stop led to the discovery and seizure of 34 pounds of marijuana that has an estimated street value of $154,220, according to Countryman.
The two were then taken into custody and booked at the Coweta County Jail without incident.
And that’s when the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office Collaborative Intelligence Group, along with the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit, conducted several search warrants in the area.
Countryman says the search led to trafficking amounts of marijuana being seized, along with two firearms from MCSO deputies.
Between the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office and Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, authorities seized a total of 72.4 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value of $328,400.00, two firearms, three vehicles, and $11,700.00 from Desmond and Kiera Sams.
Additional warrants for both were issued for trafficking marijuana and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, as they await extradition back to the Muscogee County Jail.
