ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The United Way of Rock River Valley successfully completed 16 community projects Friday during their annual “Day of Caring” event.

Over 115 volunteers participated in the event, many of whom were involved as part of work outings, contributing to various community improvement projects.

“It’s an amazing – I feel like it’s an amazing experience,” said Casey Lester, board chair of the United Way of Rock River Valley. “You get to see that there’s a lot of other people in this community that really care about our community, and are willing to get their hands dirty to make it happen.”

This marks the third year the “Day of Caring” has been held in the Stateline area, with organizers noting the event’s continued success and fulfillment.

In addition to the “Day of Caring,” the United Way is committed to supporting children’s literacy. Since 2023, they have distributed nearly 150,000 books to children across Winnebago County.
