According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers received a 911 call at 2:02 a.m. Thursday about a shooting in the 2200 block of Spann Avenue.
They arrived to find a woman in the street who had been shot. She was taken to an area hospital in stable condition, although police didn’t disclose the extent of her injuries.
IMPD said officers had been dispatched to the same location about 15 minutes before the shooting because of a disturbance at a party. When officers checked on the disturbance, people at the home said the “problem person” had already left.
The shooting happened after that, and an officer who was still nearby heard the gunfire.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unclear; IMPD said neither the victim nor witnesses were cooperating with detectives.
Anyone with information should contact IMPD at (317) 327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at 317) 262-TIPS (8477).
