Where Y’at this Weekend: Middendorf’s, Cirque du Soleil, Jefferson Performing Arts Center, West Bank Festival
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Autumn arrives this weekend, bringing with it fall football, shorter days and pumpkin-spiced treats. Gear up for a festival with fantastic food and music, a breath-taking avant-garde circus, and a musical that will have you dancing in your seat! Here are Where Yat’s weekend picks!
First, lovers of handmade pasta: don’t miss Fettuccine Frenzy at Middendorf’s! Throughout September, try their delicious fettuccine made from the same recipe as the former Bella Luna restaurant. But don’t worry: Middendorf’s is still serving their famous thin-fried catfish.
Next, Cirque du Soleil starts Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Smoothie King Center. Their new show, OVO, drops you into the world of an insect colony. See acrobats, elaborate live stunts and an unforgettable show experience. There are even matinees on Saturday and Sunday for the kids.
JPAS presents the hit play “Waitress” at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center, with music by popstar Sara Bareilles. The musical tells the story of Jenna: a server and expert pie maker stuck in a small town. “Waitress” runs Friday and Saturday nights.
Finally, the West Bank Heritage Food & Music Festival returns to The Alario Center, with live gospel music, great food and entertainment for the entire family. Headliners include Choppa, Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. and others. Admission is free, with VIP tickets available that include food and drinks.
If you’re excited for Saturday’s LSU game as they take on Southeastern, then grab the current issue of Where Y’at Magazine or read it online on the Where Y’at website. Keep an eye out this weekend for the new Fall Festivals issue, which previews all of autumn’s fantastic festivities.
