AUSTIN (KXAN) — Whataburger announced Tuesday that its “Cups That Care” fundraiser raised over $1.7 million to support Texas communities impacted by the Hill Country floods this summer.

From July 9 through Sept. 8, Whataburger customers across 17 states came together for the cause by purchasing limited-edition commemorative cups, according to a press release.

The release noted that the funds were distributed across nine nonprofit organizations providing disaster response, mental health care and long-term rebuilding support, including:

Any additional funds raised will benefit long-term rebuilding efforts in Kerrville and future disaster relief in communities within Whataburger’s reach, the release said.

At the conference, Whataburger CEO Debbie Stroud presented checks to four out of the nine organizations and shed light on how these funds will provide both immediate and long-term relief for Texas communities impacted by the devastating floods.
