Veterans Drop-In Center temporarily closes following departure of executive director

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Veterans Drop-In Center is temporarily closing as it undergoes an operational restructuring following the departure of the executive director.

“This short pause will allow us to strengthen our foundation, improve services, and ensure we are best equipped to serve our local veterans moving forward,” administrators said in a statement.

“We deeply value the trust you place in us and remain committed to our mission of supporting those who have served. Please know this is not goodbye—it’s a step toward building an even stronger future for our center and the community we serve.”

Organizers of the center, located at 1539 S 4th Street, said they would reach out to current volunteers to coordinate meal deliveries.

The Veterans Drop-In Center provides food to former service members in need.
