NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Mayor LaToya Cantrell will finish her term as mayor of New Orleans before going to trial.
Cantrell and her former bodyguard, Jeffrey Vappie, are set to go on trial Oct. 19, 2026. They will be tried together.
Cantrell and Vappie both pled not guilty to multiple federal charges, including conspiracy and wire fraud. Prosecutors say the pair committed their crimes while trying to cover up a personal relationship.
