(KRON) — A 59-year-old Millbrae man accused of stalking a 63-year-old woman over a two-year span — including allegedly throwing gasoline on her — faces numerous charges, announced the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

Dereck M. Estores was taken into custody Wednesday after his car was located by sheriff’s deputies and Millbrae police officers while driving on El Camino Real in Millbrae.

The sheriff’s office was alerted of the alleged stalking after responding to the victim’s home in unincorporated Kings Mountain Tuesday evening.

“The victim, a 63-year-old Kings Mountain resident, reported that over the last two years, a known suspect visited her house unannounced approximately 41 times and left more than 20 notes at her property,” said the sheriff’s office in a news release. “On one occasion in July, the victim reported that the suspect threw gasoline on her legs.”

An emergency protective order was granted by a judge, according to deputies.

“Sheriff’s deputies acted swiftly to apprehend the suspect and ensure the safety of our community members,” added the sheriff’s office.

Estores was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility where he faces charges for felony stalking and felony assault with chemicals.
