The Louisiana High School Athletic Association said Edwards earns the honor after compiling a football record of 203-91 in 27 seasons at five schools and winning two LHSAA titles at Redemptorist. He was honored with State Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2003.
Another honoree with Baton Rouge ties is Quianna Chaney, who helped Southern Lab’s girls basketball team win three Class 1A titles. She was named Louisiana’s Miss Basketball in 2004 and played in four Final Fours while at LSU. After her collegiate career, she played in the WNBA and overseas.

The ceremony celebrating the inductees is scheduled for Monday, April 20, at the Crowne Plaza in Baton Rouge. Tickets are on sale now.
“Every year I say this class is awesome and it can’t get any better than this,” LHSAA Assistant Executive Director Karen Hoyt said. “There’s diversity … you’ve got star athletes, great coaches and contributors who have been so important to high school sports. I think we’ve got every area covered. This is an amazing class … probably the best we’ve had since I’ve been part of this committee.”
