September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and one nonprofit is using music to help the pediatric cancer community.

Ollie’s Orchestra distributes instruments to both inpatient and outpatient individuals between the ages of 0 and 21 to promote music therapy amongst financial support and pediatric cancer research.

“We have programs that provide backpacks to hospitals as well as we take individual requests for backpacks, guitars and custom requests so to date we’ve given out thousands of instruments,” said Rachel Krieger, Co-founder of Ollie’s Orchestra and Ollie’s mom.

The 4th annual Field Day fundraiser is happening on September 21st at the Abington Art Center in Jenkintown, PA.

“It’s really hard to watch your child do something that you can’t take away from them. You can’t do the treatment for them and to see the smiles and to see the sort of peace that they feel when they listen and hear music is such a blessing for the child and the parents,” said Rachel.
