The Pineville Police Department identified the suspect as William “The Vanishing Contractor” Whiddon, who allegedly accepted $71,000 for repair work on a home before abandoning the project halfway through and cutting off communication with the homeowner.
Police said a warrant was issued for Whiddon’s arrest earlier this week. On Wednesday, Whiddon reached out to the department and told officers he intends to turn himself in on Thursday.
Investigators reminded residents to research contractors and secure written agreements before beginning projects.
