Escaped Ohio inmate possibly seen near Maysville, police say

MAYSVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — Authorities in Maysville announced on Thursday that officers had received reports that Jerry Cooper, an escaped Ohio inmate, was potentially seen in the Dover community.

Officials with Maysville police asked community members not to approach him.

According to previous reporting, Cooper was indicted by a grand jury in May and was set to go to trial in June 2026 for allegedly being recruited to kill a man named Kelly Applegate.

Department officials asked the public to lock their doors and windows and report any suspicious activity while avoiding unfamiliar people.
