
The incident happened Saturday, Sept. 3 at 2:49 a.m. Police did not disclose the location.
“After having the driver exit the vehicle to investigate further, the officer noticed that the driver kept reaching into a large pocket on the front of his sweatshirt despite being told not to,” said Cotati police in a social media post. “The driver was eventually pat searched and found to be in possession of a loaded, unserialized handgun that was located in the pocket that he was reaching into.”
A further search of the vehicle upturned a 40-round gun magazine, according to police.
The driver was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail where they face several charges, including carrying a concealed firearm and possession of a high-capacity magazine.
