Boone County Health Department seeks community input on poverty solutions

BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) — Community leaders in Boone County held a listening session at Saint John’s United Church of Christ in Belvidere to address the challenges of poverty and food insecurity.

The Boone County Health Department and the Boone County Hunger Coalition organized the event to gather personal experiences and insights from attendees about living in poverty. The session aimed to identify community needs and explore potential new services and programs to address these issues.

“It’s important for the community at large to understand that people are coming from all different walks of life,” said Amanda Mehl, public health administrator at the Boone County Health Department and chair of the Boone County Hunger Coalition.
