CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WTRF) — West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey, along with other lawmakers, will hold a memorial vigil in honor of Charlie Kirk on Thursday.
The governor will be joined by State Senator T. Kevan Bartlett (R-Kanawha), Delegate Jonathan Pinson (R-Mason), and other invited local representatives and pastors as well as Turning Point USA representatives for a memorial and vigil in honor of Charlie Kirk.
The event, titled “Remembering Charlie Kirk – a Call to Courage,” will be held on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 6:00 p.m. The vigil will be held at the South Plaza of the West Virginia State Capitol.
Gov. Morrisey will deliver a keynote address, and the other invited guests will share words of remembrance with challenge.
“Charlie Kirk’s life reminds us that one person with conviction can influence a generation,” Pinson said. “This event is about more than looking back; it is a call to each of us to stand with courage for the values that matter most.
The governor ordered flags to be lowered for Kirk on Sept. 12 and to remain there until sunset on the day of interment.
Kirk was a political activist and co-founded the organization Turning Point USA. He was killed on Sept. 10 after being fatally shot in the neck by alleged shooter Tyler Robinson in Utah.
