Fairfield police said officers responded at 3:34 p.m. to the location and were soon joined by additional officers who helped secured the campus. As of this writing, police were still investigating the scene.
“The preliminary investigation determined that at least one gunshot was fired at an occupied vehicle related to the fight,” said police in a news statement. “At this time, it is not believed that anyone was hit by the gunfire.”
There were no details yet provided on potential suspects or if there were any arrests made.
Fairfield High School confirmed to KRON4 that it sent a message to their staff and families following the incident, which reads in part, “The safety of our staff and students is a top priority. We are aware of the situation this afternoon that took place in the parking lot at Fairfield High.”
