Father and son have been with the Davidson Athletics department for nearly 80 years
There have been some famous faces who have walked up and down those halls.
“Davidson making that Elite 8 run in ’08, that was very exciting,” remembered Will DuBose.
Will has a routine- and he’s had time to perfect it.
“Six days a week for 42 years,” smiled Will.
As an equipment manager, he’s been washing, folding and delivering 25 loads of laundry six days a week for the last 42 years.
“I love sports and I love working with people,” said Will.
Will is the longest tenured employee in the Athletics Department.
“It’s just about being dedicated to whatever you do,” said Will. “I think that’s the story.”
He says his story is about dedication- but there’s more to it.
His story starts with his dad, Bill, who graduated from Davidson in 1950.
“When I entered Davidson in 1946, the baseball field was at the end of the football stadium,” remembered Bill. “It really has changed a great deal.”
“He loves I’ve been able to work my whole life here,” said Will.
When Will isn’t working, the two are side by side at baseball games, basketball games, and in life.
“He’s just there for me,” said Will,
Will said his dad taught him to love Davidson. When you love something, you dedicate yourself to it.
“I’ve never heard him complain one word about having to work late or long hours,” said Bill. “I’m very proud.”
“I enjoy being here so much,” said Will.
Though he might not always be on the court or on the baseball diamond, of all the famous faces at Davidson, he’s one more to know.
