BOSSIER, LA (KTAL/KMSS) — A married couple has died in a murder-suicide incident in Bossier.
The incident happened on Sunday, Sept. 14, at the Villaggio Apartment on 5200 East Texas Street. Concerned family members contacted the police after a male informed them that he had done something harmful to his wife.
It was also reported that he had thoughts of self-harm. When officers arrived at the scene, the individual, whose name has not been released, had barricaded himself inside the apartment. Police say the man had a history of mental illness.
According to Sergeant Shawn Poudrier from the Bossier City Police Department, the man also informed dispatch over the phone that he had done something bad to his wife. When asked if she needed medical attention, he replied no and stated that she was gone.
Two officers were injured while attempting to enter the residence. Police say the man opened fire on the officers, who did not return fire. The female victim was found deceased in the bedroom, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. The man was taken to a medical facility with a self-inflicted gunshot wound but was later pronounced dead on Monday, Sept. 15.
The identities of those involved have not been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.
