“A juvenile suspect was identified as the shooter and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The suspect turned himself to Fairfield Police Officers with the assistance of family members at approximately 9:00 a.m. this morning,” the Fairfield Police Department wrote.
Investigators did not say if the suspected shooter is a Fairfield High School student.
Police said the fight broke out around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday after classes ended for the day.
At least one gunshot was fired at a vehicle with people inside related to the fight, police said. No one was struck by gunfire.
Someone called 911 and officers arrived at the scene within one minute, according to FPD. They were followed by additional officers who secured the high school’s campus.
School district administrators wrote, “The safety of our staff and students is a top priority. There is no active threat to students on campus or after school activities.”
