Abilene’s downtown parking fees start Monday

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Paid parking in Downtown Abilene starts on Monday. Here’s what you need to know.

In March 2025, the Abilene City Council approved the addition of paid parking in Downtown Abilene. Assistant City Manager Michael Rice explained the decision came after officials noticed people parking in customer-designated lots for free all day, preventing turnover and limiting spaces for shoppers.

The first two hours will be free. After that, the price varies based on the amount of time parked at the location:

  • 2 to 4 hours – $5
  • 4 to 6 hours – $9
  • 6 to 9 hours – $13
  • 9 hours or more (daily rate) – $20

This will go into effect on Monday, September 22, 2025. Downtown visitors can pay by downloading the ParkMobile app.
