UPDATE: 17 prisoners hospitalized after bus crash in Coleman County

COLEMAN COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – More than a dozen prisoners are reporting injuries after a bus crash in Coleman County Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened on Highway 283 just north of CR 258 around 12:15 p.m.

Texas Department of Public Safety officials confirm 17 prisoners were injured when a prison transfer bus crashed into the back of a pickup truck. All prisoners were transported to the hospital, but their injuries are considered minor at this time.

The bus was carrying inmates from Hays County to Haskell County.
