Third person in custody for alleged connection to CPD’s stolen vehicle, entering auto cases

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Columbus Police Department announced on Tuesday that a third person was taken into custody in connection to an investigation on stolen vehicles and entering auto cases.

CPD says the Property Crimes Unit arrested 20-year-old Caleb Lang after being tied to 26 cases and is charged with 49 counts of entering an automobile, four counts of theft by taking motor vehicle, four counts of financial transaction card theft, and financial transaction card fraud.

Lang is scheduled to appear in recorder’s court on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.

According to the police department, there are 48 victims connected to the investigation.

Initially, CPD officials announced on Friday that multiple people were taken into custody in connection to a series of stolen vehicles and entering auto cases across the city.

17-year-old Addison Weaver Mickens and two juveniles were taken into custody as each face seven counts of entering an automobile, theft by receiving stolen property, and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

A further investigation by CPD’s Property Crimes Unit linked Mickens to more than a dozen cases that involved stolen vehicles.

Investigators also arrested 17-year-old Zakyrion Walton, who is being charged with 16 counts of entering auto, while Mickens face 44 charges that stem from the Property Crimes Unit’s investigation, including 36 counts of entering autos, five counts of theft by taking motor vehicle, and four counts of Financial Transaction Card Theft.
