While fans were inside enjoying performances by Nelly and Ja Rule on Sunday, September 14, multiple people returned to the parking lot to find their vehicles broken into.
According to several CMPD reports, more than 20 people reported vehicle break-ins in the parking lot, with the thefts allegedly happening between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. that night.
Victims reported stolen items ranging from wallets and purses to cash, credit cards, and even firearms, including a Glock .40 caliber handgun with an extended magazine and 15 rounds of 9mm ammo. Several trucks and SUVs were also reportedly damaged.
With another concert happening Tuesday night, featuring A Day To Remember and Yellowcard, some concertgoers are now wondering what’s being done to ensure their safety.
Queen City News reached out to PNC Music Pavilion for a comment on parking lot security and any changes following Sunday’s break-ins and thefts. The venue’s website states that law enforcement and venue security are present throughout the facility and that all guests must pass through metal detectors or undergo physical pat-downs upon entry.
However, it’s unclear what specific surveillance or security measures are in place for the parking areas. As of now, no arrests have been made. CMPD is continuing to investigate.
