SAN JUAN COUNTY, Utah (ABC4)
According to a press release from San Juan County Sheriff, the Sheriff’s Office “was alerted” to skeletal remains being found in the county on Thursday, September 11.
The Medical Examiner’s office confirmed that the skeletal remains were human, and they used dental records to positively identify the remains as belonging to Jamey Eugene Holyoak.
Holyoak was reported missing on April 28, 2022, and his family and next of kin was notified that his remains were found. “The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our condolences to the Holyoak Family at this time,” the Sheriff’s Office wrote in the press release.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, this is an ongoing investigation, and no other information can be released to the public at this time.
ABC4’s Justice Files covered the disappearance of Holyoak in 2022. Holyoak’s sister Kathy Randall told ABC4 at that time that he was last seen on April 15 in La Sal, walking down La Sal Road. He was 47 at the time of his disappearance.
Another sibling, Clinton Holyoak, also spoke to ABC4 in 2022, and he said that Jamey was known to ride a bike or walk down La Sal Road, like he did the day he disappeared. Randall also told ABC4 that in the years prior to Jamey’s disappearance, he was using drugs, “pretty heavy for the last five years.”
Jamey’s hat was found during a search on Meadow Lane in La Sal, close to where Jamey was living at the time. Clinton said that he was living in an area with squatters and that he believed Jamey was murdered.
