Reward of $5,500 for tips on missing Ashe County man last seen in August

ASHE COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – The Ashe County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a man who has been missing since mid-August.

Steven Wayne Lecount, 63, was reported missing on Aug. 10, 2025, from Howell Road in Lansing.

He’s described as 5’8” tall, weighing 160 pounds. Lecount was last seen wearing camouflage shorts, a white graphic t-shirt, and work boots.

Authorities said Lecount has cognitive and speech impairment due to a head injury from 40 years ago. His family is offering a $5,500 reward for information leading to his whereabouts.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office at 336-846-5600.
