The crash was reported around 8:20 p.m. near Brashear Lane and Timberwood Drive, the department said.
When the Cedar Park Fire Department arrived at the scene, the car was “up against the house that was on fire,” Fire Chief James Mallinger said.
According to authorities, a fire was reported inside the home and the crash caused a major gas leak in the area. As a precaution, authorities had evacuated residents in the 1500 block of Timberwood.
In an update, Mallinger said, “Most people have been allowed to return to their home. If they are not right next door they could go back to their homes. We advise though, if they smell gas to call 911.”
At 10:15 p.m., Cedar Park Police said the fire was out and all surrounding evacuations have been lifted.
According to Mallinger, one pet was injured and one person was arrested “for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence.”
The intersection of Brashear Lane and Timberwood Drive remains shut down in the neighborhood at this time.
