Nine caught gambling in public view of children and families, thousands in cash recovered: Vallejo PD
Officers arrived at the park and detained the nine people. According to VPD, one of the men was seen “discarding an object into the grass,” which was later revealed to be a gun. Police recovered dice and cash linked to gambling activity.
VPD officers searched the park and located an unregistered gun with an extended magazine. The man who discarded the gun was described as a man from Martinez. He was arrested; police later found more than $3,000 in cash and more dice in his possession.
The Martinez man was booked into Solano County Jail. According to VPD, the other eight individuals were released at the scene and possibly face charges pending a Solano County DA review.
Three of the nine individuals are Vallejo residents, police said. A photo of the recovered evidence was posted by VPD (see below).
The gun, cash and dice were taken in by police as evidence.
