According to Chicago police, the shooting unfolded just before 3:30 p.m. Monday at a residence in the 6800 block of South Anthony Avenue, in Greater Grand Crossing.
Officers said preliminary investigation indicates that the victim, who was described as an adult male, was inside the home when he suffered a gunshot wound to his body.
Officers said the victim attempted to drive himself to the hospital, but did not make it. Authorities then located him in the 300 block of South Wentworth Avenue and transported him to the hospital, where he later died.
Authorities have not identified the victim killed and an investigation into the shooting is underway.
Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting and no arrests have been made.
