SALT LAKE CITY (
ABC4) — FBI Director, Kash Patel, shared on ‘Fox & Friends’ on Monday morning that Tyler Robinson’s DNA has been found on two pieces of evidence.
Patel told the ‘Fox & Friends’ team that Robinson’s DNA was found on a towel that was wrapped around the firearm, as well as on a screwdriver that was found on the rooftop.
“I can report today that the DNA hits from the towel that was wrapped around the firearm, and the DNA on the screwdriver are positively processed for the suspect in custody,” Patel said in the interview.
However, Patel said that the firearm is still being processed at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) laboratories in Maryland.
Immediate FBI response
During the interview, Patel said that the Kirk was shot at 12:23 p.m. local time on Sept. 10, and there were FBI assets on scene by 12:39 p.m. local time.
Patel said that when he arrived on scene on Sept. 11, he walked the entire crime scene, including the wooded area where the firearm was discovered. There, he learned that DNA evidence was collected.
Additionally, Patel said that the FBI used all of its resources and surged multiple air assets as soon as the shooting occurred.
“We were cycling in agents, evidence response technicians, hostage rescue technicians, and special operators in and out of Utah,” Patel said on ‘Fox & Friends’.
Help from the public and media
Patel told Fox News that he decided to release the enhanced photos and videos of the suspect to help get a suspect in custody.
“I decided to release immediately to the public because we were working with the public and the media to find this killer,” Patel said.
Patel said that the father of the suspect looked at the video and enhanced photos and identified the suspect.
“Our investigation is ongoing. We are interviewing dozens and dozens of suspects, subjects, witnesses, and the like, and continuing to examine forensic information, including cell phone data and DNA analysis,” Patel said on Fox & Friends.
