FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) — Freeport Police have arrested a Rockford teen for a shooting late Monday night.

Freeport Police were called to Stewart Avenue and Harrison Street around 11:39 p.m. and were able to review video surveillance that showed a suspect, later identified as David Pospiech, 18, of Rockford, walking east on the sidewalk on Harrison Street.

Police said a blue SUV drove slowly past Pospiech and stopped, at which point he pulled a gun and fired two shots at the vehicle and ran.

No one was injured in the shooting.

At 5:27 a.m. the following morning, a Freeport Police officer spotted Pospiech walking near Galena and Iroquois Street. When the officer approached, Pospiech turned and ran and was apprehended after a foot chase, police said.

Investigators said a loaded 9mm semi-automatic was found, along with methamphetamine.

Pospiech was charged with armed violence, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and possession of methamphetamine.

He was booked into the Stephenson County Jail, pending the outcome of a pretrial detention hearing.
