‘We’re all heartbroken’: 3 people, including 8-year-old, killed in shooting at Georgetown apartment

GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) — Georgetown Police said they’re searching for a homicide suspect accused of shooting and killing three people, including one child, at a Georgetown apartment Saturday night.

Police said officers responded to 300 Luther Drive, which is the address for Georgetown Park Apartment Homes, around 7:26 p.m. Saturday. They found three people inside the apartment with multiple gunshot wounds.

Police identified the victims as Alonzo Hawkins, 34, Doneisha Brooks, 39, and Olivia Brooks, 8.

GPD said they’ve identified a person of interest, and the search for that suspect is ongoing. Investigators believe the suspect and victims knew each other.

“The Georgetown Police Department is deeply saddened by the tragic deaths of three members of our community, one being a child, and extends our heartfelt condolences to their family and loved ones during this difficult time,” police said in the release.

“They’re just a happy, loving family, and it’s sad to see their lives taken. They didn’t deserve anything,” said Ashley Ford, Hawkins’ sister.

Relatives spoke with KXAN from their home outside Dallas. They said they had just returned from Georgetown after spending the night trying to understand what happened.

“Our family has always been tight-knit. We would help anyone. At this point, we just don’t know what happened or who would have done this,” said Tree Ford, a cousin. “We don’t know much at this time. We just know that they’re gone.”

Family members said they spoke with Hawkins and Brooks, who were cousins, every day. When they did not hear from them on Saturday, they sent someone for a welfare check. That person discovered their bodies.

“It’s like it’s a dream, like we’re all going to wake up from it and they’re going to be with us again,” Ford said. “I know the detectives have a job that they have to do, but still, we want to mourn. It’s hard.”

“We’re all heartbroken,” Ford continued.

Anyone with information on the incident should call the Georgetown Police Department at 512-930-3510 or send a tip to Crime Stoppers online or by calling 1-800-252-TIPS(8477).
