The fire occurred at a building in the 1300 block of Ellis Avenue just before 4:45 a.m. on September 15, 2025.
Division Fire Chief Charles Felton, Jr., said two firefighters sustained first-degree burns. They were both transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) for treatment, and they’re expected to make a full recovery.
According to Felton, the building had previously burned last year. He said the cause of the fire will be classified as arson.
There is no suspect at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
