Shenandoah man killed, woman injured in crash near Deer Lake
DEER LAKE – A Shenandoah man was killed in a crash Sunday in southern Schuylkill County, state troopers said.
The crash happened on Route 61 at Market Street in Deer Lake around 4pm
According to State Police at Frackville, a Subaru Outback was stopped in the left lane of Route 61 when a 2017 Toyota Tacoma, driven by Derek Musser, 29, of Landingville, struck the Subaru.
Troopers said 58-year-old Eduard Barcenas-Moncada, 58, of Shenandoah, was out of the Subaru checking under the hood of the vehicle at the time of the crash. He was sent airborne and pronounced dead at the scene by a Schuylkill County deputy coroner.
Inside the Subaru, Consuelo Barcenas, 21, of Shenandoah, was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Musser refused treatment.
