TINLEY PARK, Ill. — A shelter-in-place has been lifted in the south suburbs following a police pursuit and manhunt.

According to Tinley Park police, officers were assisting authorities in Matteson and Frankfort Square on Monday morning in the search for five Black men in all black clothing who are possibly armed with handguns.

According to officials, three people have been taken into custody. It is unclear at this time if the other suspects have been caught.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office announced a shelter-in-place just after 6 a.m. Monday for the area of Harlem Avenue and Vollmer Road due to a police pursuit that terminated in the area with suspects fleeing.

As of 8:40 a.m., the shelter-in-place had been lifted.

“Deputies and various other law enforcement agencies searched the vicinity and have given the all clear. We will update the public if any further information becomes available,” the Will County Sheriff’s Office posted to Facebook.

No further details have been released at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
