Keithville man found guilty of teen sex crime in Caddo Parish

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — A Keithville man has been found guilty of sex crimes against a teenager.

58-year-old Robert Wayne Mathews was found guilty of sexual battery on Thursday, September 11, in Caddo Parish. The teen victim involved reported that Mathews started touching her inappropriately, with the physical contact escalating from December 2022 through May 2023.

During the trial, the judge heard testimony from the victim, as well as from one of Mathews’ former victims. Mathews’ wife, who is also related to the victim, testified on his behalf, along with other family members and church members.

Mathews will be sentenced on Wednesday, October 1, and he faces up to 10 years in prison.
