HURRICANE, Utah (ABC4) — A Hurricane man has been charged for allegedly downloading child sexual abuse material (CSAM) from the social media app Discord.
Michael Adam Kiser, 41, has been charged with nine counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.
According to court documents, a detective with the Hurricane City Police Department began investigating a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip reported that an online user had downloaded suspected CSAM.
Through an investigation involving search warrants, the detective connected the individual to a suspect living in Hurricane, Kiser. On Sept. 11, 2025, the detective filed a residential search warrant to seize electronic devices.
Kiser was detained and interviewed. During the interview, according to documents, Kiser admitted to using a Discord account to download images he “knew were of young girls,” but stated that he “immediately got out of it.” Kiser allegedly said that he viewed both real and animated pornographic materials.
A search warrant was returned on the Discord account, and the detective located multiple files of CSAM, some involving real children and some involving animated children.
Kiser was arrested and booked into the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on bail, but has since been released. He has an initial appearance set for Nov. 7, 2025.
