ROCK COUNTY, Wis. (WTVO) — A 44-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Sunday morning, after hitting a mailbox and then a power pole, authorities said.

According to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, the unnamed driver, from Delavan, was driving his Honda motorcycle east on E CTH A around 6:31 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a sweeping left curve and struck the mailbox and the pole.

Police said the rider was not wearing a helmet, and high speed was a factor in the crash.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

The Rock County Medical Examiner is withholding the victim’s identification pending family notification.
