The city says 3,561 visitors parked in the paid parking zones, earning the city a net revenue of $72,000. While this was lower than initial estimates, the expenses for the program were also lower than expected, leading to a surplus of $49,000.

City Council is recommending that the $49,000 surplus be transferred into the general fund in 2026 to offset the tax levy increase. The surplus represents 22% of the proposed general fund increase of $212,000. Adding the surplus money to this could lower the levy increase by 2%, according to the city.

Residents of the neighborhoods impacted by the parking were surveyed and a majority said they felt the area was adequately staffed by police and ambassadors and that they generally felt safe.
