Eugenio Bolainez Vanegas, 44, was shot and found dead around 5:45 a.m. Sept. 6 at ETS Gaming at 1821 Lee Ave., according to the Sanford Police Department. The shooting happened during an “altercation” inside the gaming center, police say.
Family members of Vanegas say he leaves behind a daughter and that his death is an “unimaginable loss.” They also set up a fundraiser to help with his funeral and memorial services.
“He was a vibrant, kind-hearted soul — someone who lit up every room with his energy, laughter, and warmth,” his cousin Elizabeth Vanegas wrote.
As of Saturday, a suspect in the killing is still on the run, Sanford police said.
A warrant for first-degree murder was issued this week for Wilser Joel Aragon Gutierrez, 26, of Sanford, according to a police news release.

The business is for gamers who can play consoles such as Xbox or PlayStation and other customers who use virtual headsets, Elijah Ussery, who owns ETS Gaming, told CBS 17. Customers can also play games like Dungeons and Dragons, and Ussery added that Madden Football was the most popular console game lately.
Ussery said he also rents out the location as an event venue for parties.
Officers said anyone who knows the location of the suspect should contact the Sanford Police Department’s Detective Division at 919-775-8268.
